Published by Johnny Davis on March 2, 2011
After a lengthy battle with cancer, Joe Tyler passed away on Thursday, March 3rd.
Joe was an avid dragracer, having spent many weekends on the track at Richmond Dragway since his first trip down the 1/4 mile way back in 1965. Joe was one of the toughest competitors in his trademarked Red El Camino winning many times at RD and becoming a two time track champion at VMP.
Joe also enjoyed “lurking” on the web and message boards sharing his views, wisdom and wit – He will be sorely missed as was a Central Virginia Racing Legend!
Mr. Tyler’s remains rest at the Chester chapel of the JT Morris and Sons Funeral Home. The family will recieve friends on Sunday, March 6th from 2-4 pm and a funeral service will be held on Monday.
Rest in peace Joe – You’ll be missed!
